India is a multi-linguistic, multi-religious nation with as many unique cultures and ways of life a nation could possibly have. Of the 14 national languages, Hindi and English are the most widely understood. With a plethora of major and minor religious and ethnic groups, it is hardly surprising that the Indian calendar is full of holidays. The two major ethnic groups are Aryan and Dravidian.

Agriculture contributes to about 20% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country and provides employment to more than half the population. India also has a thriving IT industry largely based out of Bangalore. The liberal  free-market policies adopted by the Indian government in the 1990s has made India one of the fastest growing economies in the world today.
